A Message From The Priest-in-charge - The Rev. Canon Dr. Jack R. Roberts. Please Email me at<canon.roberts@sympatico.ca>
Welcome to our website. We offer the same greeting in cyberspace as we do in our church space in the hamlet of Buckhorn. We desire to meet you where you are in the name of Jesus Christ.
What do we
offer to you as our part of this exchange? We offer the gift of community. Ours
is no casual gathering. We offer friendship and fellowship as we genuinely try
to show we care about one another and that all of us are the "beloved of
God". What is amazing is that seldom are people not changed and enhanced
in some graceful way after experiencing our hospitality. We believe that we
encounter Christ through one another and this enhances us as new spirit-led
people. Our motto:
"To
love Christ and to make Him known to others."
We offer a time of heartfelt and exuberant worship that enables us to
experience the love of God and a glimpse of the Holy. Again we offer the real
possibility of being transformed through congregtional devotions and prayers
that express our gratitude to the Almighty.
We have a unique model of leadership that is both collaborative and mutually shared. As priest , I am privileged to preside at the Eucharist twice monthly, being part-time. However, we are truly blessed by a group of layreaders who lead worship other Sundays sharing their faithful insights and faith-filled lives. This variety of leadership is our strength and joy combining to transcend any heirarchical model or method.
We are privileged to take seriously our misson to reach out beyond ourselves in projects and activities for the surrounding community. We provide space for Community Care an all-purpose service agency supporting the lonely, the needy, the sick, the isolated and those requiring meals or transportation. We include an emergency shelter for victims of violence and support the Rural Outreach Centre who provide effective responses for them. We also attempt to be a life-long learning centre engaged in educational seminars and workshops for all ages that help us interpret our Bible centred faith to the issues and challenges of our times.
This Website enables us to have the privilege of connecting up with you and your journey of faith. The spiritual life is never a solitary one. But offers the opportunity to learn from one another and share our experiences of the Divine so that we can bless one another and be a blessing for God. We may be Anglican but our members come from all kinds of church backgrounds. We invite you to come join us so that our community and our worship may be enriched even more. May God bless and keep you as you seek the Risen Lord.
